Athlete Recognition Awards

Kaetlyn Osmond began training at the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club at the age of ten and developed into Canada’s most decorated female singles skater of all time. She is a three-time Olympic medalist and the 2018 World Champion. Her victory at the World Championships is particularly historic as she is the first Canadian lady in 45 years to win the world title.

Kaetlyn exudes positivity in everything she does and embodies the spirit of a true champion. She is the perfect role model for all young Canadians, and we are honored to have this award named after her.

The Kaetlyn Osmond Award will be presented annually to the highest placing skater in the Juvenile Women U10 category at the Sectional Championships and to the highest placing skater in the Pre-Novice Women category at the Sectional Championships. Each award will include a $500 bursary and will be presented at the Ice Palace FSC Annual General Meeting.

Ravi Walia began coaching at the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club in 2001 and became the Skating Director in 2005. Under his direction and leadership, the Ice Palace became one of the largest and most prominent clubs in Canada. Ravi is the long-time coach of Kaetlyn Osmond, 3-time Olympic medalist and World Champion, and coached Patrick Chan to an Olympic team gold medal.

Ravi is passionate about helping each skater reach their full potential and is committed to making them well-rounded individuals. He is extremely dedicated to his athletes, the Club, and the sport of figure skating, and we are honored to have this award named after him.

The Ravi Walia Award will be presented annually to the highest placing skater in the Juvenile Men U10 category at the Sectional Championships and to the highest placing skater in the Pre-Novice Men category at the Sectional Championships. Each award will include a $500 bursary and will be presented at the Ice Palace FSC Annual General Meeting.
